Our Homework Policy

Homework Policy

The LGUSD homework policy for first grade states that students will complete 10 minutes of independent reading, as well as an additional 10 minutes of assigned work each night.

The goal of the first grade team is to make homework a meaningful experience that reinforces concepts learned in class, as well as a lesson in responsibility.

Children will be given homework in a weekly packet. 

In addition to the assigned homework, all students are required to read for at least 10 minutes daily and fill out the corresponding reading log that is included in the weekly homework packet. Daily reading will be a part of your child’s homework grade on the report card.

Homework grading is based on work being complete or incomplete, and it must be neat. Late homework assignments will be accepted, but multiple late/incomplete assignments will be reflected on the report card.
